Ayurveda - Essence of life

Ayurveda is considered by many scholars to be the ancient Indian medical system healing science. In Sanskrit, Ayur means life and veda means science together called as “The Science of Life.” Ayurvedic knowledge originated in India more than 5,000 years ago and is often called the “Mother of All Healing.” It stems from the ancient Vedic culture and was taught for many thousands of years in an oral tradition from accomplished masters to their disciples, is based on ancient writings that rely on a “natural” and holistic approach to physical and mental health. The principles of many of the natural healing systems now familiar in the West have their roots in Ayurveda, including Homeopathy and Polarity Therapy.
Ayurvedic is based on the belief that health and wellness depend on a delicate balance between the mind, body, and spirit. Its main goal is to promote good health, not fight disease. But treatments may be geared toward specific health problems.

Ayurveda Cleansing Your Life Energy

Pancha Bhuta or Pancha Maha-Bhuta, Pancha’ means five, ‘maha’ means great and ‘bhuta’ means that which exists, five great elements, also five physical elements, is a group of five basic elements, which, according to Hinduism, is the basis of all cosmic creation. These elements are: Prithvi/Bhudevi (Earth), Apas/Varuna/Jala (Water), Agni (Fire), Vayu (Air), Akasha/Dyaus (Space/Atmosphere/Ether). These elements have different characteristics and these also account for different faculties of human experience.
All the living and non-living objects in the universe are made up of panchamahabhuta. Therefore, panchamahabhuta in ayurveda and Indian philosophy, the human body is considered to be made of these are the five fundamental elements responsible for creation of the universe, including humans. Each individual has a unique panchabhautik constitution. This constitution remains in state of equilibrium in health and any imbalance results in disease. If your mind, body, and spirit are in harmony with the universe, you have good health. When something disrupts this balance, you get sick. Among the things that can upset this balance are genetic or birth defects, injuries, climate and seasonal change, age, and your emotions. It is crucial for healthcare provider to identify panchabhautik imbalance and should have the capability to restore equilibrium.

Those who practice Ayurveda believe every person is made of five basic elements found in the universe: space, air, fire, water, and earth.
These combine in the human body to form three life forces or energies, called doshas. They control how your body works. They are Vata dosha (space and air); Pitta dosha (fire and water); and Kapha dosha (water and earth).
Everyone inherits a unique mix of the three doshas. But one is usually stronger than the others. Each one controls a different body function. It’s believed that your chances of getting sick and the health issues you develop are linked to the balance of your doshas.

Ayurveda Tridoshas

Vata, Pitta and Kapha are the three types of Doshas or primary functional energies in the body. Vata is related to wind. Pitta is related to fire and Kapha relates to water. These Doshas are related to the elements of nature. It is commonly believed that there are five elements of nature. These five elements

are:

  1. Earth (Prithvi)
  2. Air (Vayu)
  3. Water (Jala)
  4. Fire (Teja)
  5. Space (Aakash)

Vata Kapha Pitta have a strong relationship with the elements of nature. The relationship is defined as given below:

  1. Vata Dosha is related to air and space.
  2. Pitta Dosha is related to fire and water.
  3. Kapha Dosha is related to earth and water.

Ayurvedic Body Types

According to Ayurveda, each one of us has a unique mix of three body principals that constitutes our mental, physical and spiritual well-being. Each individual has its own unique constitution that is usually governed by one or two of the doshas predominantly. It means athat our Ayurvedic constitution is mainly be either of these doshas or a mixed constitution of two doshas like Vata & Kapa, Kapa & Pitta or Vata & Pitta.

Vata Dosha

Those who practice Ayurveda believe this is the most powerful of all three doshas. It controls very basic body functions, like how cells divide. It also controls your mind, breathing, blood flow, heart function, and ability to get rid of waste through your intestines.
The vata dosha is known to govern all the movements of mind and body. From controlling the blood flow to elimination of the waste and harmful toxins to breathing and the flow of thoughts in the mind; the vata dosha is like a predominant force that minimizes stress and feeds the creativity within you.
If the vata dosha is in balance, you will feel energetic, enthusiastic and lively. Things that can disrupt it include eating again too soon after a meal, fear, grief, and staying up too late.
If vata dosha is your main life force, but the moment it becomes imbalanced, it manifests in the body problems like constipation, hypertension, fatigue, digestive challenges and restlessness among others and thought to be more likely to develop conditions like anxiety, asthma, heart disease, skin problems, and rheumatoid arthritis

Pitta Dosha

This energy controls your digestion, metabolism (how well you break down foods), and certain hormones that are linked to your appetite and energy production.
The primary function of Pitta is transformation. Those with a predominance of the Pitta principle have a fiery nature that manifests in both body and mind. Pittas have a lustrous complexion, perfect digestion, abundant energy, and a strong appetite. Things that can disrupt it are eating sour or spicy foods and spending too much time in the sun.
If it’s your main life force, out of balance, Pittas may suffer from skin rashes, burning sensations, peptic ulcers, excessive body heat, heartburn, indigestion and you’re thought to be more likely to develop conditions like Crohn’s disease, heart disease, high blood pressure, and infections.

Kapha Dosha

Kapha dosha this life force controls governs all structure and lubrication in the mind and body. It is the principle that holds the cells together and forms the muscle, fat, bone, sinew and your immune system. It controls weight, growth, lubrication for the joints and lungs, and formation of all the seven tissues — nutritive fluids, blood, fat, muscles, bones, marrow and reproductive tissues. It helps build excellent stamina.
You can disrupt it by sleeping during the day, eating too many sweet foods, and eating or drinking things that contain too much salt or water.
If it’s your main life energy, but when it goes out of balance it can also cause a person to become overweight, sleep excessively, and suffer from the problem of disorders like asthma, depression, cancer, diabetes, nausea after eating, and obesity.
